The Power of Kindness: A Farmer's Wise Approach to Conflict Resolution Story Line

There was a poor farmer in that village.

He had a hunter living next door.

The hunter had some hunting dogs that he used for hunting.

The hunter's dogs often jumped over the fence and chased the farmer's lambs and bit them.

The farmer, worried about this, went to his neighbor, the hunter. Dad… take care of your dogs, they often come to my area and attack and injure the sheep.

The hunter did not do anything, and they were of no use. Once the dogs jumped over the fence and entered the barn and bit and bit several lambs.

This time, the farmer went to complain to the hunter again, hoping that he would see one of the two.

The hunter was a little angry this time… Look at this… Chasing and biting the goat, this is the nature of a dog, I can’t do anything about it, look at what you can do.

Following this, the farmer went to the village panchayat chief and told him about the suffering he was facing because of the hunter’s dogs and requested him to take some action against him.

The panchayat chief had great respect for the farmer because the farmer had saved the panchayat chief’s daughter from a small accident earlier.

The panchayat chief inquired about the dispute between the farmer and the hunter and found out. I can convene a panchayat, punish the hunter, impose a fine and tie up his dogs.

But you will have to make an enemy unnecessarily.

It is your own house and he and it is your own house, both of you have to see each other’s face every day.

In that case, do you want your neighbor to be your friend or your enemy? The farmer, who understood the reality of what the Panchayat chief was saying, said that he would like to see the neighbor as a friend.

Okay… I will tell you a solution so that your lambs are safe and he is your friend too.

I will listen to whatever you say. Next, the Panchayat chief told him some things.

When the farmer came home, he tried to test the things the Panchayat chief had told him. He took the two most beautiful lambs from his flock and gave one lamb each to the hunter’s two sons to play with.

The children were happy that they had new friends to play with, and they both enjoyed playing with the lambs.

Now, to protect his children’s new friends, the hunter had to chain the dogs.

Without telling anyone, he chained the dogs. After the farmer gifted his sons with lambs, the hunter wanted to give him something in return and presented him with some rare items he had brought from the forest.

The two of them developed a good relationship and eventually became good friends.

This story happens to many people every day, but the problem is different.

We should not make enemies in vain just because we have justice or because we have strength.

Sheep are important, but isn't peace of mind more important?
