The Arrogant King and the Wise Sage A Lesson in Humility Story Line

In ancient times, there was a great empire called Vijayanagar.

The king of that country, Veerasekhara, was famous for his wisdom and valor.

But he had only one flaw – his arrogance.* The Birth of Arrogance Veerasekhara won many wars, defeated fellow kings, and expanded his empire.

After each victory, a thought came to his mind – “I am the best king in this world.

No one can defeat me!” His ministers advised him, “Manna, arrogance will lead to destruction one day.

It is better to be a little silent, stand upright, and see the world more often.

But he did not listen.

The Sage’s Test One day, an old sage came to meet the king.

Manna, there is someone stronger than you in this country.

Do you want to meet him?” he asked. He laughed. “Stronger than me? This is ridiculous! I definitely want to meet him.

Explanation of Destruction The sage led the king to an ancient tree at the back of the palace.

Manna, this tree was there during your father's time.

It was there even when you were born.

But just as you conquered the country by fighting, this tree conquered time.

The king was confused. "What does this have to do with me?" The sage spoke slowly. "A man with ego can conquer many.

But time spares no one.

Even a tree may live longer than your time.

But time will decide when you will perish.

So, give up your ego now!" The king was shocked.

At that moment he realized – his ego was leading him to destruction.

He bowed his head to the sage.

Realizing that he had been doing wrong for so long, he decided to bow his head and seek the support of the people.
